After four years, I was promoted as the Plant Manager for Lakdhanavi Power Plant, Sapugaskanda. Adding managerial experience to my professional carrier, I was tempered to be a real life Engineer during my two years stay at Lakdhanavi Power Plant.In late 2010 I got the opportunity to be the first Engineer to be deployed to Bangladesh as LTL started its first Power Plant Project for overseas market. We could complete erection and commissioning of 2 x 100MW power Plants within just 9 months.After these two projects, I was appointed as the Project Manager of Vavuniya Kilinochchi Transmission Project Lot A. Even at toughest conditions, we completed the Project with in scheduled time with appreciation from the client, CEB.After this I was involved in almost all Power Plant Projects of the company and time to time participated for bid and offers preparation for Power Plant Projects and MVAC installations.

Ceylex Engineering Pvt Ltd which is formerly known as LTL Projects Pvt Ltd was awarded a project for construction of new Grid Substation at Kegalle with 15MVAr (3x5MVAr) Capacitor Banks at 33kV and Augmentation of Existing 132/33kV Grid Substation at Thulhiriya for Ceylon Electricity Board. I performed as the Project Manager for this Substation Project. Project was completed successfully and waiting for the transmission line which is under a different project to energize the substation.

Plant consists with a water diversion weir across the Walawe River close to Samanalawewa Dam base, 2.6m wide channel in 2500m length and a power house with Francis turbine.I was assigned as the Project Manager and I am elated that, we could complete the project on time and handed over to client, Ms. Sri Lanka Energies Pvt Ltd. even under severe weather conditions such as heavy rain and landslides.
Senior Mechanical Engineer
Lakdhanavi was awarded another EPC contract to setup a 52.2 MW Power Plant at Comilla, Bangladesh. I was assigned as the procurement in charge additional to the responsibilities related to all mechanical designing, erection and commissioning works of the project.Radiator Support Structure, Charge Air Filter Platform, Engine Maintenance Platform, Exhaust Gas Module Support Structure, Pipe Supports and other auxiliary platforms were designed and stress analyzed by me. All fabrication drawings were arranged under the guidance of me and fabrication work was guided to achieve project time schedule. Complete material ordering, shipping arrangements, planning shipments, monitoring the documentation was done under the supervision of myself. All vertical storage tanks were designed by me according to the eleventh edition of API 650 standard. There were two HFO Storage Tanks of capacity 2500 m3, two units of 100m3 tanks, three units of 55m3 tanks, one 700m3 tank and nine units of smaller capacity tanks. Reviewing of Fabrication Drawings was also done by me.After the resignation of civil engineer, I was assigned to manage the balance civil works also, of the project.

Lakdhanavi was awarded an EPC contract to setup a 52.2 MW Power Plant consisting of six units of Wärtsilä 20V32 DG Sets at Natore, Rajshai. I was assigned as the in charge designing of Steel Structures, Fuel, Water, Lube Oil and Oily Water Tanks and arranging all shipments from Sri Lanka to Bangladesh.Radiator Support Structure, Charge Air Filter Platform, Engine Maintenance Platform, Exhaust Gas Module Support Structure, Pipe Supports and other auxiliary platforms were designed and stress analyzed by me. All fabrication drawings were arranged under the guidance of me and all material ordering was done and fabrication work was guided to achieve project time schedule.All vertical storage tanks were designed by me according to the eleventh edition of API 650 standard. There were one HFO Storage Tanks of capacity 2500 m3, two units of 100m3 tanks, three units of 55m3 tanks, one 700m3 tank and nine units of smaller capacity tanks. In this project most of Plant and Equipment and some of the raw material were delivered through Sri Lanka due to financial clauses of the contract. I was in charge of planning and executing of shipments. Strategic management of deviations of suppliers and various issues related to shipping was a biggest challenge for me and I could successfully deliver all shipments to site considering the project schedule.

This was not another Power Plant Project in my carrier. We had only Eight months to complete all Design, Construction, Erection and Commissioning works of the project. Northern peninsula of Sri Lanka was under a civil war for 30 years and we were facing so many difficulties during the project period. But none of them could force us back. We completed the project on time with highest level of appreciation from our client CEB, and started delivering energy to much needed Jaffna Peninsula before the due date of 15th January 2013.I was the in charge of all erection works while playing a special role to manage and coordinate different disciplines to focus on one common goal and expedite the project. Not only as a manager, but also as a Mechanical Engineer, I could drive my junior engineers and subordinates by giving necessary guidance and solutions to achieve this challenging time target.

I enjoyed civil installations as well as mechanical installations. Complete cooling system with fire fighting system installation was done with my supervision and guidance. Over 2000 meters of pipelines were laid and hundreds of mechanical units were installed, integrated and commissioned during this project. Our team could complete the project and start commercial operations, three months prior to the scheduled date.
