Led and contributed to a wide range of large grant-funded social science research projects, involving: • Project design - developing ideas for and writing grant proposals, and securing funding• Hiring and supervising staff• Leading and coordinating diverse teams of workers• Budget development and management• Collaboration with funding agencies, outside researchers and contractors • Design of data collection methods• Sophisticated data analysis • Preparing publications and manuscripts• Delivering Conference presentations• Participation on councils, committees, task forces and Board of Directors Studies included: - Long-term examination of a variety of influences (e.g., demographic, family, friend, school, and neighborhood factors) on physical activity patterns across young people and their families.- Study of changes in physical activity levels and patterns from preadolescence through adolescence among African American, Latina, and White girls.- Development of an interactive computer program to help older, overweight adults monitor and manage diet and physical activity.- Long-term study of factors affecting alcohol use and other drug use among White and African American youth and their families.- Analyses of existing data on development of alcohol and cannabis use disorders.- Participation in a Center for the Prevention of Problems in Early Adolescence – integration and support for numerous research projects on early adolescent substance use, antisocial behavior, depression, high risk sexual behavior.Reviews and consultation: Provided reviews for NIH (National Institutes of Health) Study Sections, CSAP (Center for Substance Abuse Preventions), and manuscript reviews to professional journals. Consultation (paid and volunteer) in physical activity and substance use research, statistical applications (e.g., independent research organizations, university professors, students, county and city health departments).

Contributed to a wide range of grant-funded social science research studies either as Co-Investigator or sometimes as Principal Investigator. Helped write grant proposals, project design, developing ideas, team coordination, development and design of data collection methods, adherence to research protocols, data analysis, manuscript preparation and publication submissions, conference presentations, participation on committees. Studies included: - Development and testing of interactive CD-ROM for adolescent drug refusal skills.- Interactive computer program for worksite health promotion focusing on individually tailored exercise prescriptions. - Several projects involving existing databases – used emerging, sophisticated data analytic techniques to answer new research questions, not answerable previously with older analytic methods. - Intervention to promote neighborhood walking groups among sedentary elderly adults.- Development and evaluation of an intervention to promote physical and psychological health benefits in older adults using Tai Chi.

Mostly contributed as a data analyst to a long-term (15-year) funded grant on substance use in families. Also co-authored manuscripts and presentations.

I co-ordinate and coach both boys and girls varsity tennis teams. This has involved completing all state (OSAA e.g., coaching, concussion, heat stroke prevention, steroid/drug prevention) and local school district trainings and requirements (e.g., CPR, Safe Schools). I organize and lead all team practices, coach at matches, supervise assistant coaches, liaise with school personnel (administrative staff, athletic secretary, Athletic Director, custodian), monitor eligibility (grades and attendance), communicate with parents, coordinate transport to away matches, organize team building and social events, maintain courts and initiate equipment upgrades as needed.

Coached tennis for groups of children (age range 4-16) during an 8-week summer program, along with some individual sessions.

Coached soccer teams from Kindergarten (ages 5-6) through 8th grade (ages 13-14) in American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), Kidsports (local youth sports organization) and indoor soccer leagues. Organized and led team practices, coached matches, parent communication, planned end of season team event.
