I lead our SOX Center of Excellence where I have the opportunity to collaborate with professionals across our firm, to create and update our Point of View, methodologies, and best practices related to Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR). It is amazing that while the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was put in place almost 20 years ago, this is still an area that continues to evolve, both due to changes in business practices e.g. the move to cloud technologies, outsourcing of functions etc, as well as the rapid change in technologies available to enable a more risk based and data driven SOX function eg through the use of analytics tools and GRC platforms. I am a frequent and passionate speaker on the topic of ICFR and ways to both enhance SOX programs, and also how to drive more efficiency and effectiveness into SOX programs and functions. As ESG reporting is becoming more relevant, I am leading the development of our point of view around the 'Soxification of ESG' and how we can leverage our lessons learned from building SOX programs, and use them to accelerate developing ESG controls assurance programs. I am passionate about the clients that I serve, and value the many long standing relationships I have developed in over 30 years with KPMG. I am known to be a committed, dependable advisor with clear communication skills at all levels both internal and external to KPMG.I am committed to developing and supporting our people, and I execute that both in my role as an engagement partner, in my role leading our Pacific SouthWest Internal Audit and SOX practice, as well as in my role mentoring many of our employees. I'm particularly focused on supporting women in the workplace, and while I was supported, sponsored and mentored by many men, I would like to see more women in leadership positions. I was one of the first members of KPMG's Women's Advisory Board, and a founding member of the Los Angeles chapter of KPMG's Network of Women (KNOW). I am a co-chair of Women Corporate Directors in Los Angeles and a founding co-chair of BoardNext with an objective to promote and support more women in the Boardroom. And because I am passionate about females at all levels, I am a proud board member of Girl Scouts of Orange County, and I led my daughter's Girl Scout troop from Kindergarten through the girls graduation from High School.
