As Health & Beauty Expert, I was responsible for supporting the Board in developing investment and business expansion strategies, creating robust operational plans, managing identified risks and ensuring appropriate governance is in place.

Alliance Healthcare is one of the leading distributors and wholesalers of pharmaceutical, medical and healthcare products in the UK. Responsible for the delivery of sales, profit and market share growth for the Health & Beauty category through the development and effective implementation of ranging, pricing, promotions and replenishment strategies and plans. Led 30 staff and accountable for £180m trade sales and £1.6m expense budget. Commercial lead for the integration of Alliance Healthcare and Boots Health & Beauty supply chain to unlock significant harmonisation benefits.

Chessington

Alphega Pharmacy is a symbol brand which operates across 9 countries and supports over 6, 300 independent pharmacy members, offering added value services to help them grow their businesses. Responsible for the delivery of member number, member income, supplier income and cost targets for Alphega Pharmacy UK through the development and effective implementation of a member and supplier product/ services offer and fee structure, member recruitment and marketing strategies and plans. Led 20 staff and accountable for £5m revenue target and £2.5m cost budget. Grew Alphega Pharmacy UK membership base from 5 to 1,000+ members in 5 years, achieving a 20% share of available market (Independent pharmacy 1-5).

Feltham

Alliance Pharmacy was a managed chain of c. 1, 000 stores. In 2007 it merged with Boots and was subsequently rebranded as Your local Boots pharmacy. Commercial lead for Your local Boots pharmacy trials and integration of buying and category management functions between Alliance Pharmacy and Boots. Designed and led the rationalisation of direct suppliers, switching off 164 out of 251 suppliers whilst retaining sales and profit.

Feltham

Development of range, price, promotion, space and people strategies and implementation plans for OTC Healthcare category within Alliance Pharmacy. Identified and filled a £1m supplier income gap.

Bedford

Meller Beauty is an own label toiletries and cosmetics manufacturer. Developed and led the implementation of Meller Beauty's technical strategy, including transfer of Gift ranges to Far East supply and cost reductions for raw materials.

Nottingham

Led the integration of two internal product development and quality assurance departments within Boots to deliver a single Boots NPD process and organisation for in-house and third party sourced Boots brand products.

Nottingham

Developed and managed a pipeline of local sourced Boots brands for Thailand and Japan. Technical lead for roll-out of Boots brands across Asia and United States. Initiated and delivered significnt cost of goods reductions for BRI.
