I joined Rushcliffe in 2007 to complete the Council’s Senior Management Team under a new Chief Executive. The Council was ranked excellent in its last CPA and was ranked 1st amongst District Councils in England for customer satisfaction and value for money. I managed a wide portfolio of external & internal services and drove the change and improvement work for the council. I was responsible for partnership activities and revitalised Rushcliffe’s Local Strategic Partnership, strengthened the Council’s contract management processes and oversaw the opening of a new, shared contact centre with the Police. I also developed new scrutiny arrangements and supported two portfolio holders with wide briefs. Show less

This was a new post and I built a totally new service developing a culture as well as a framework for performance management. I also managed the risk management process and led a project to embed EFQM as an improvement tool. I led the preparation for the Council’s CPA guiding a cross-professional project team and developed the council’s Corporate Plan.

Following on from a successful period as Head of OD, when I led the work on Investors in People accreditation, developed a Leadership Competencies framework and developed an individual performance management framework, I was appointed as Assistant Director - People and Culture. This was a major plank of the council’s improvement programme and I was responsible for six major corporate projects.
