Worked with the USOPC to develop and implement their Transition Out of Sport programming for athletes during COVID. Listed in the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee Mental Health Registry.

Provide coach, player and team consultation around the psychological aspects of team culture, leadership, communication, injury recovery, team building and cohesion, mental skills, and life skills. Co-created and implemented post-game regeneration, relaxation, and visualization exercises. Put together and ran a mentor program for incoming athletes. Developed and implemented a series of classes for incoming freshmen and transfers to help them with the transition into a Division 1 program.

Worked with the team for three months to manage the transition between coaching staffs.

• Give DU Men’s Soccer parent-athlete webinars annually. In these presentations we teach skills to help parents and athletes transition ownership for sport to athletes and to foster high level performance skills.• Worked with University of Maine's women's softball coaching staff to identify and address difficulties in the parent-athlete dynamic that were impacting athlete performance and well-being. Helped coaches develop programming to facilitate communication between parents and athletes to address these challenges.• Conducted a videotaped interview with hockey agents for their recruits. Taught recruits skills to successfully communicate with their parents when their parents were negatively impacting their performance and well being.

Over the past 20 years Dr. Schimmel has treated a range of difficulties including: depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, perfectionism, grief and loss, postpartum mood disorders, major life transitions, and career dissatisfaction. She has specialized training and expertise working with athletes, sports psychology, retirement from sports, young adults, addictions, and parents of athletes. Over 25 years working with addictions. Over 15 years working with NHL and MLS athletes providing mental health services. Listed in the USOPC registry of mental health providers to treat Olympic athletes and staff.
