About Coach.Athlete.Parent Project
The CAP Project aims to positively impact coach-athlete-parent dynamics in order to optimize athlete well-being & performance. As parents of college athletes ourselves, we understand the unique challenges of parenting elite athletes. We created the CAP Project to offer coaches and parents tools to foster athlete autonomy, resilience and life skills that will serve athletes long past the end of their sports career, while maintaining a close and respectful relationships. Our book, Playing the Long Game: A Handbook for Parenting Elite and College Athletes, is intended as a resource for coaches & parents. It combines our research and personal experience with reflection questions and sample dialogues that will help you support your athlete while fostering the autonomy they need for peak performance. ~ Sue Schimmel & Maureen Breeze
