Teaching Personnel is one of the UK's leading teacher recruitment agencies. On joining it was the UK's number one for 'same day / emergency' supply teachers. I was engaged as the key liaison between the business and the IT teams as they changed their business model from one centralised call centre, to an additional 23 regional branches and the supply of permanent teachers. This meant a radical re-think of the prescriptive call centre IT system. I delivered major projects covering most business areas: sales, marketing, compliance, accounting and HR. Plus the delivery of over 30 'quick win' projects, which greatly increased system usability and adoption, and also increased profitability for specific marketing and recruitment campaigns. Responsibilities included all IT change management; taking business and user requirements, assessing and prioritising these; working closely with the IT team on design specifications; signing off on user acceptance testing and creating and delivering company-wide training for system changes and updates. After these deliverables were completed, audit results by the UK's Criminal Records Bureau and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation showed that Teaching Personnel's quality operational and IT systems were the best in the UK's educational recruitment sector.

I joined this specialist IT recruitment company, as a recruitment consultant. As the company grew I was asked to develop and deliver various staff training courses including induction, sales, IT systems training, Quality Assurance and ISO procedures.In June 1999 I became the Major Accounts and Group Bid Manager. Reporting to the Group Sales Director, I established a new business area and service delivery team, providing volumes of IT personnel to Blue Chip clients through Preferred Supplier Arrangements. This involved identifying opportunities, tender writing and bid presentations to win the business, contract and SLA negotiations, and managing the delivery team day to day. Clients included Sainsbury's, Scottish Hydro Electric and Southern Electric (now SSE), EDF, Cellnet (now O2), IBM and Virgin Airlines. The company continued to grow, and in April 2001 I became the Group Operations Manager. Reporting directly to the CEO. I was responsible for the day to day business operations of 10 recruitment businesses based in the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland and Hong Kong. I also managed the central administration team and was responsible for the integrity of all data, providing accurate group-wide sales and accounting information. I undertook management of several additional projects, including working with IT and business teams to integrate a newly acquired £25m business, with 5 autonomous business units, into the existing RDL Group structure. I was also responsible for the company wide training programme for all of the changes that this integration project created.
