I am helping teach leaders how Strategy Activation, a cloud-based software platform, overcomes the three problems that cause 70% of business strategies to fail.First, today's strategies are more complex. Companies need to engage functions and teams with strategies to make sure people understand them, and can adjust their priorities and develop effective execution plans.Second, methods used to present strategies and critical initiatives don't elicit enough valuable feedback. They don't enable collective work by teams to discover new ways they must integrate their work. It takes deep discussion and shared view of objectives if groups are going to successfully integrate their plans across functional silos. They must be able to socialize diverse field-level feedback, and collaborate to identify and seize new opportunities.Third, today's management systems don't use data analysis to highlight points of confusion, assess employee commitment or illustrate emergent capabilities within newly formed networks . So leaders are left to judge the impact of strategies when results show up when it's too late to make corrections.
