Sugoi Gomez-Iradi, (PhD, MEng, PMP), working and researching in wind energy since 2002. MEng from the Mechanical Engineering University of Navarre (TECNUN, Spain). The experimental and numerical Master thesis project was done at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and once the work was presented, I continued the research about the vertical axis wind turbine at DTU until Gamesa (Spain) called me. In Gamesa I worked as a Test Engineer, mainly focusing in the blade certification tests as well as in the blade subcomponents. Afterwards, I obtained the Ph.D. at the University of Liverpool (UK) with a research called “CFD for Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines”. In May 2009, I joined CENER as CFD expert, where I provided technical solutions to EU funded and commercial research projects, and coordinate and/or lead some internal and external projects or tasks. The actuation areas that I was involved have been broadening during all this years, ranging from the initial focus on the aerodynamics of airfoils and wind turbine blades, to aero-structure of the entire wind turbine, to wind farm computations and analysis. These were combined with commercial activities at the wind turbine industry, specialising in the Chinese market. At my last period at CENER I changed my role, becoming a Strategy and Business Developer Manager of the entire Wind Energy department.Since May 2020, I am working at HINE, as APAC Technical Director, which aim is to reinforce the technical team in China transforming it from a good support provider to a team that carries out designs and developments locally for Chinese customers. For that, we are growing up, getting more qualified people and competences, and of course, learning from the vast experience of our HQ.Finally, mention that I am a reviewer of “European Wind Energy Association” and “The Science of Making Torque” conferences and also for the “Wind Energy” and the “Renewable Energy” journals from Elsevier. I have been lecturing in three Masters at the University and have several publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences as well as in technical reports from the IEA. I am fortunate enough to work in what is my passion, ...the Wind Energy!
