My role is to support and advance the SEEDS Campus Ecology Chapter Network program. SEEDS Chapters, as autonomous undergraduate student clubs, provide key focal points for local and regional environmental leadership advancement, community engagement, and career development activities. The Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity and Sustainability (SEEDS) Program is part of the Education and Diversity Programs office at ESA. This department offers a variety of programs to increase the diversity of ecology-related professions and to improve the quality of ecology education. Since 1996, the mission of the SEEDS program has been to diversify and advance the ecology profession through opportunities that stimulate and nurture the interest of underrepresented students to participate, and to lead in ecology. The SEEDS program offers hands-on, engaging experiences with ecology that exhibit the relevance and applications of the science.

Advocacy Associates is Washington, DC’s leading event consulting firm that specializes in coordinating Capitol Hill advocacy days, virtual events, advocacy trainings, and in-district grassroots advocacy. I assist nationwide groups with the logistics behind their Capitol Hill meetings. As part of the logistics team, I work directly on scheduling meetings between members of Congress and their constituents, arranging all aspects of the advocacy day including: managing attendee registration, communicating schedule changes, disseminating materials, and serving as the main point-of-contact with clients. As Account Manager, I am the lead decision maker for client accounts by exercising judgment, foresight, and political know-how in order to facilitate smooth and seamless events.

As an alum of SCA, I was able to participate in their 2022 Fall Alumni Cohort as Recruiting Intern for their Recruiting Team. I developed a plan for creating a new Recruiting Ambassador Program as a cost-effective way to get SCA into community events, including career fairs at local universities across the country.

Tempe, Arizona

Personal resource to over 100 First-Time Freshman students (mainly first generation) as their catalyst, cheerleader, and connector to the university while supporting their goals. Also led seven ASU Orientations with about 100 students each during the summer.

Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area

Participated in the Diversity in Conservation Internship Program through the Conservation Trust for North Carolina. As a Diversity Education Intern, provided direct support to Diversity Outreach Program Specialists in the incorporation of Spanish projects in a statewide capacity. These projects focused on reaching Spanish-speaking community members with a growing population across the State of North Carolina. Predominately, many of these projects were the first of their kind within the state and/or the agency.In an Administrative & Operations capacity, prepared written and visual materials for astatewide Spanish Boater Safety Education course.Generated creative content, including information flyers in Spanish on the agency’s variousdepartments such as: Permits, registrations, and associated documentation.Routinely introduced English-to-Spanish verbal resources for the agency’s Law EnforcementWildlife Officers.

Assisting EcologyPlus, a National Science Foundation funded pilot program that currently connects 21 participants with timely and relevant career opportunities and a community of peers and professionals in ecology and related careers across all sectors. Tasks included developing a weekly and monthly newsletter to participants and partners while also planning program events such as skills workshops, monthly networking events, and a career fair.

Phoenix, Arizona

The Monsoon Fellowship provided training, support, and work experience to empower by creating self-sustaining advocacy networks, strategic planning, and analytical research of economic injustice in education. Specifically, my project was to develop a strategic campaign plan to analyze the lack of Latino leadership in education across the state of Arizona.

Southeast Regional Office, Atlanta, Ga

Developed three tools for the 60+ parks in the Southeast region to implement for the Latinx community. These tools consisted of a cultural event toolkit for parks to implement at their parks, a Latinx Community Catalog with potential Latinx partners for parks, and an Every Kid in a Park (EKIP) interpretive program for fourth graders based on Loreta Velazquez.
