Managing Engineer
As a Managing Engineer, I was involved in a variety of projects ranging from broken metal structures and fractured pipes to failed appliances. My primary responsibility as an engineering consultant was to utilize advanced characterization techniques to aid in failure analysis, root cause investigations, and litigation support.
Senior Engineer
Associate
Contracted Employee
Characterized powder, fibrous, and bulk samples through material characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction.
Graduate Research Assistant
My research focused on improving nanoindentation of thin films on substrates. In cases such as thin films, phenomena such as sink-in or pile-up may affect extraction of material properties. I worked to solve these problems and understand the material characteristics that drive them. Plastic material properties were probed, as well, which has been lesser studied with nanoindentation.Initially, I examined the abalone shell structure, or mother-of-pearl, as an architecture for protective armor applications. The mollusks were cultured in the lab and the shell structure was studied with changes in temperature. The end goal was to engineer the growth of the abalone shell for a stronger material structure.
Graduate Teaching Assistant
Graded homework, proctored exams, and mentored students outside of class. In the X-ray Diffraction Laboratory, I independently designed and implemented weekly labs for 27 students, both undergraduate and graduate.
