As a lead assistant my job consist of being efficient and making sure the doctors stay on schedule, prepping patients before procedures including making sure medications are called into pharmacy, taking blood pressure, answering questions regarding treatment, scheduling, making sure patient is comfortable and administering relaxation medication or monitoring nitrous oxide as needed. I assist the doctors on the following procedures extractions, bone grafts, sinus augmentation, ridge augmentations, LANAP (laser assisted new attachment procedure), implants (Zimmer, Astra, Straumann, Nobel, MegaGen), Revitalize (All-on 4), Connective tissue grafts, Free gingival grafts and Pinhole technique. I also see patients for their post-op care which include checking healing, prophy polish, suture removal, barricaid removal, trimming Alloderm, taking digital X-rays (Dexis), 3D scans (Carestream), Panorex (Dexis), intraoral photos, digital impressions (Trios), and test dental implants with Osstell technology. I also do sterilization, tray and room set-up, maintain dental equipment, chart review, order supplies from various vendors, maintain relationships with dental reps, I am the radiology safety officer and train new dental assistants. Outside of direct patient care I manage the marketing for Metropolitan Periodontists, P.A.. I coordinate and preparing lunch and learns with our referring dental offices and help organize meetings with dentists, maintaining professional relationships with our referring dental offices, manage our website, and social media platforms, plan events for our referring offices, complete reports to monitor ROI for marketing activities, as well as design brochures and marketing material for the office. I maintain my license by attending continuing education courses, seminars and workshops, I am CPR certified through American Red Cross for healthcare providers. Show less
