The Business + Higher Education Roundtable (BHER) is the only organization that brings together Canada’s largest companies and leading post-secondary institutions to build opportunities for students and jobseekers, boost innovation, and drive collaboration. As BHER's Senior Content Specialist, I create content, manage projects, translate knowledge, and broker relationships with the diverse audiences we serve. I collaborate with BHER’s Partnerships, Research & Development, and Communications teams to create relevant, insightful, engaging, high-impact content for BHER’s members and key stakeholders. I see stories and I tell them; in doing so, I help BHER create a thriving Canada where everyone has an opportunity to reach their potential. Before that role, I was the founding Co-operative Education Specialist for the Faculty of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University. I ensured that Arts students got access to quality career education and that talent with liberal arts skills could break into non-traditional industries where those skills can improve the world. Having completed a PhD in English literary studies at University of Wisconsin-Madison in Dec 2018, I know personally how transferrable arts-related skills are, and I continue to support folks with backgrounds in academia to join alt-ac fields.I am confident and experienced in liaising with alumni, donors, community partners, and other stakeholders; developing programs in a budget-scarce environment; event planning for small to large audiences; curriculum development for students in a variety of disciplines; and coordinating programs with intercollege and interdisciplinary administrative teams. My community service shows my commitment to teaching excellence, social justice, and student mentorship. Besides my work in career education, I am also an award-winning writer, academic researcher, proofreader & editor, and web content manager across multiple disciplines. I have published and continue to write in peer-reviewed academic journals, creative writing magazines, online publications, and book projects. I teach creative writing for continuing education programs.My doctoral dissertation, titled "Experimental Poetics of the Asian Diaspora: Readings in Meatspace and Cyberspace," studies the political and social justice applications of digital texts, social networking, and multimedia art.
