As part of the internal communications team communicating to over 80,000 colleagues based in over 750 offices across the country. I specifically focus on leadership communications, colleague engagement and insight. This involves:- working to advise and support senior stakeholders including the Permanent Secretary and the Executive Team. - developing the organisation's approach to strategic face-to-face colleague engagement.- leading on the delivery of the communications and engagement plans for building senior leadership communities, networks and connections. - gathering and using insight to inform communications approaches. - line management responsibility.

Communicating to 7,000 members of staff based across 12 sites in the country. Here, I:- Utilised excellent editorial skills to source and write engaging news content. - Acted as a trusted, expert adviser to the department, developing and implementing communications plans that met departmental objectives and utilised appropriate channels to reach and target audiences. - Used my organisational and project management skills to ensure plans were delivered on time and of high quality. - Led on the production of key outputs such as newsletters and creative content such as posters and videos.

“Decarbonising heat is our most difficult policy and technology challenge to meet our carbon targets.” – Clean Growth Strategy. Heating our homes, businesses and industry accounts for nearly half of all energy use in the UK and a third of our carbon emissions. As part of my work at BEIS, I was a part of a team that aimed to find sustainable, long-term solutions to decarbonising heat.

I was the main port of call for the media, drafting and sending press releases, arranging interviews and monitoring local and national media. I also managed social media platforms and the website. I managed all policy correspondence, drafted Parliamentary Questions, wrote briefings, monitored parliamentary proceedings, managed the diary and interviewed and managed new members of staff. I conducted research into single issues as well as ongoing projects, including running a campaign on HS2 plans in the constituency.

I had several responsibilities including responding to constituents on policy issues; handling confidential post; liaising with other MPs and their offices; representing Fiona at meetings; meeting constituents; giving tours around the Palace of Westminster and taking minutes. I spent 3 months working with the Parliamentary ICT department, completing a project aimed at encouraging Members of Parliament and Peers to use social networking platforms.

I set up an online tea and spice shop. During the process of setting up my business I researched and analysed the existing market; researched relevant laws about copyright, packaging and health and safety; secured funding; designed products and packaging; organised focus group sessions; sourced high quality products; managed finances; secured payments; met deadlines; evaluated customer feedback; analysed website statistics; networked and advertised.
