I often look back at the life travelled and I count my lucky stars. From Children’s TV presenter for BBC Scotland, to traveling the world (as a flight attendant), allowing it to humble me, to working on HRH private flights. I truly feel privileged. I don’t think I really knew what I wanted to be growing up. It’s a crazy question people ask kids.” What do you want to be when you grow up?” My inner voice would scream ‘I don’t know! What kind of question is that for a 6-year-old?” Outwardly I would respond with cultural appropriateness…” A doctor, maybe an attorney” Just for the record, I’m neither!America has been good to me! I built my first business within two years of arriving. I didn’t realize that marrying my guy, and into this big family called the military would have such an effect on my life. Spending over 12 years with coffee locations on naval bases throughout San Diego, I heard great stories from service members about life, careers, and dreams. As a Mil Spouse, I was experiencing the other side. I learned a lot. I didn’t know anything about running a business. I watched my family build a business, I watched from the peripheral. Plenty of naysayers when I announced what I would be doing. Thanks Naysayers!I did it! and I did it by doing it!My commitment to share stories and experiences from our military spouses, vets and service members, stems from my coffee cart days. The big family I married into. The family that picked me up when I was down, that celebrated and supported my successes. Spouses that I didn’t know, checking in on the new gal. Guys that I’d call, when my guy was on deployment, who’d come over and fix something, who would check in and ask “You good? You need anything?”The unwritten, unspoken commitment. I started my podcast quietly. I’ve spent the last 18 months learning, Sharing the stories of military spouses, how we overcome the challenges of this lifestyle. I love highlighting spouse and veteran businesses. I enjoy meeting spouses and laughing at the silly side of military life. I’m always intrigued when I talk with young service members and ask why they signed on the dotted line. You read this far so help a Mil Spouse out, check out the podcast. I am always open to feedback. I’m on all major platforms.Follow me on IG @thegoodeshow and let’s connect! Two of my favorite quotes:I’ve never done a day’s work in my life; it was all fun.- Thomas A.
