Development of UV-curable radiation imageable coating in application of labeling optical media. Development of new technologies for adjacent applications, including use of water-based coatings, sol-gel silicate thin films, photochromic chemistry, encapsulation technology, and laser energy delivery schemes. Expanded expertise in color science, thermal reliability models, and IP strategies through classes and project work.

Applied layer-by-layer electrostatic deposition of thin films to fabrication of organic electronics, including solar cells and organic light emitting diodes (OLED). Nanometer scale placement of structure and function. Absorption, photoluminescence and electroluminescence used to characterize the electro-optical properties of the films. Thickness and surface roughness investigated by ellipsometry and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Supervisory responsibilities for graduate and undergraduate researchers.

Drug Delivery Division: Responsible for initial feasibility studies through first GMP pharmaceutical manufacture. Adapted solvent cast adhesive formulations to hot melt extrusion technology.
