In my role as adjunct professor of voice, I teach undergraduate students, both majors and non majors, private voice lessons weekly. Within lessons, i help reinforce music theory, coach foreign diction (French, Italian, German, and Spanish), advance style within a variety of genres, and teach healthy vocal technique that can be applied to those genres.

I prepare the Grace Adult Choir to sing at services twice a month throughout the year, including rehearsals and repertoire selection. I also select all of the hymns, contribute to the choice of liturgy, perform solos the remaining months of the year, serve as substitute pianist when the organist is unavailable, and assist the Sunday School children in musical preparation for services three to four times per year.

I teach private lessons during the school day to approximately 14 students every semester. Within lessons, we prepare for the annual musical production, state and local choral festivals, individual vocal competitions, and an annual recital. Genres range from folk music to classical, pop to musical theater and choral works.

As a Strong Voices Outreach Teacher, I teach one day a week in underserved high schools within Chicago Public Schools. I have taught at four separate high schools during this time: Lindblom Math and Science Academy, Hubbard High School, Curie Metropolitan High School and Von Steuben High School. In working with classroom teachers, I help to prepare large ensembles, instructing in vocal technique as well as music theory, run sectional rehearsals and instruct private students in preparation for competitions and recitals.

The best chorus in Chicago, perhaps the country, is the Grant Park Chorus. In this AGMA organization, I have performed in concerts during the summers since 2004, mostly as a chorister (ranging from large symphonic works to a cappella prorgrams) and occasionally as a soloist or featured artist. In addition, I also participated in an outreach program which brought vocal music to summer programs within the Chicago Park District.

As a singer, I perform in a wide variety of roles. In one week, I can sightread a choral work within a church (singing either alto or soprano), perform a program of music from the theater for a seniors group, cantor a mass at another church, sing solos for larger orchestras or choral organizations and sing and rehearse an opera role. Education and outreach are my passions - and Opera for the Young brings both together. Singing the title role in a student reduction production of Rusalka, I was able to bring an old story to new life, and to new audiences throughout schools in the Midwest, many of which had never had the opportunity to see live singing. I instructed students in their staging roles and helped to show children the magic of opera by both performing and encouraging them in their roles within the show.

Within my two summers as a Apprentice Artist at DMMO, I sang in a wide variety of scene programs, a full length one act opera (Stravinsky's Mavra), performed as a chorister in 7 operas, and covered both Pamina in Die Zauberfloete and Antonia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann.
