Pearce published the book, Immigration and Women: Understanding the American Experience (New York University Press) with her research collaborators, Elizabeth J. Clifford and Reena Tandon. American collective memory and the African American experience has interested Dr. Pearce since her 1990s dissertation research on the New York African Burial Ground. Her most recent publication related to this issue was “Saxophones, Trumpets, and Hurricanes: The Cultural Restructuring of New Orleans,” a chapter in the book, Racing the Storm: Racial Implications and Lessons Learned from Hurricane Katrina (Lexington Books), edited by Hillary Potter.At the international level, she has contributed as an instructor to the Open Society Institute summer institute for international graduate scholarship recipients in Istanbul, Turkey for seven years.
