Provide consultancy to companies in providing practical solutions to problems in managing scientific publications

• Created and led the Publications group responsible for strategic & tactical publication planning and the preparation and review of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters and slide sets for all Ipsen’s products in endocrinology, hormonal oncology and neurology. • Designed, implemented & led Ipsen’s process for public registration of ongoing clinical trials and their results to meet disclosure regulations and standards. • Created excellent networks internally across Ipsen and externally with clinician opinion leaders, partner companies and medical communication agencies to ensure publications are scientifically credible yet meet strategic objectives. • Led the creation of Ipsen’s publication policy, delivered many internal training programmes on publication ethics and trial registration and introduced publication management software.

• Registration of an extended release formulation of lanreotide in Europe. • Leading the endocrinology clinical team, managing staff in Slough and Paris.• Chairmanship of the R&D Standard Operating Procedures Committee.

• Led cross-disciplinary project team through worldwide regulatory reviews of NDA & MAA for ropinirole, achieving US & European approval. • Achieved board approval of agreement with a partner to develop an oral controlled release ropinirole tablet. Led proposal to develop drug for Restless Legs Syndrome. Both initiatives successful and marketed in US & Europe. • Chaired joint development committee with partner developing a 5HT-1 agonist for migraine, to which SB had commercialisation rights.

• Leadership of clinical scientists, to become effective project team representatives and productive in initiating, monitoring and reporting early phase studies. Achieved stability in staff, from previous annual turnover of >50%. Successful amalgamation of staff from 5 UK sites onto one at the SK&F/ Beecham merger.• Effective representation of Clinical Pharmacology to the famciclovir project team, shown in successful, timely NDAs/MAAs and subsequent requests for presentations to the medical community. • Management of sub-contracted clinical pharmacology work to a Phase I unit in Germany (independent following a management buy-out from SB), to achieve high quality work with increasing value for money.
