Managing State's press and public engagement bureau, with 300 staff. The Bureau of Public Affairs runs the State Department's flagship social media accounts, domestic outreach to stakeholders, crisis communications, strategic planning, domestic and international press engagement, and the U.S. Diplomacy Center.

Managed the Under Secretary's front office staff, budget and strategic direction, and coordination among the public diplomacy family of three bureaus and two offices. Budgets totaled over $1 billion. Led planning and execution of 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, and President Obama's historic visit there.

Managed strategic planning, budgeting and policy formation for public diplomacy, ensuring equitable and strategic resourcing among regional and functional bureaus and across priority foreign policy goals. Engaged in public outreach on the strategic direction of public diplomacy in today's interconnected, networked world.

Led U.S. public and press outreach to East Asia and the Pacific, including 32 posts overseas. Managed messaging on the President's rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region as well as launch of Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). Led interagency planning and execution of 2013 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Managed the Foreign Press Centers of the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., and New York City, assisting foreign journalists reporting on U.S. policy as well as helping them understand U.S. society.

Representing U.S. interests in Northern Thailand. Directed Consulate staff of 80, traveled through Thailand's 15 northern provinces, and actively led Creative City initiative for Chiang Mai.

Managed the public profile of the U.S. Mission in China, coordinating press and communications across the 1000+ person embassy and five consulates. Led press and public outreach around the annual Strategic Economic Dialogue, then Strategic and Economic Dialogue, as well as President Bush's longest overseas trip: Four days in Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games.

Managed U.S. public statements during pro-democracy demonstrations and the 2003 outbreak of SARS.

Following the 1999 merger between USIA and the State Department, continued my foreign service career in Mexico City (through July 2000) and Hong Kong (studied Chinese at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from September 2000-August 2002).

After initial training, served as Asst. Press Attache at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand (1994-1997) and Asst. Cultural Attache for Exchanges and Economic Programming in Mexico City (1998-2000). Spent three months in Doha, Qatar to lead the planning and execution of U.S. participation in the Middle East-North Africa Economic Conference in 1997, attended by the Secretaries of State and Commerce.
