STRIDE CHC is a large, Federally Qualified Health Center providing primary care, behavioral health, dental services and more to over 55,000 low-income patients in the Denver area. I support the CEO and leadership team with cross-functional initiatives including planning efforts for growth. Additionally I pro-actively engage elected officials on the local, state and federal levels to build relationships, increase awareness about the organization, and advance strategic goals.

While at Movember, Susan led and developed the portfolio of mental health and suicide prevention programs in the U.S. She supported senior global leadership in navigating and understanding the opportunities and challenges within the U.S. mental health landscape and worked collaboratively on a global team to grow the organization’s impact and brand awareness.

504HealthNet is a non-profit dedicated to improving healthcare access for all residents through advocacy, outreach and education with a focus on low-income and uninsured patients. The organization consisted of 23 primary care and behavioral health safety-net organizations that serve all patients, regardless of ability to pay ranging from small primary care clinics to a large safety-net hospital. While there, Susan grew the organization into a stand-alone non-profit and led the 23-member board of directors, all C-Suite executives of their respective organizations, through strategic planning and business plan development vital to growth and sustainability. She successfully led advocacy efforts to secure $26 million in state and federal financing for the Greater New Orleans Community Health Connection program, a Medicaid 1115 demonstration waiver, which funded the primary care and behavioral health safety-net in the Greater New Orleans region.

Susan assisted in designing and implementing a $50 million grant program to improve access to primary care and behavioral health services for low income residents in the Gulf Coast region. She also provided expertise and guidance regarding how components of the Affordable Care Act would affect local health care providers.

Working for the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) in the Office of Health Policy, Susan conducted policy analysis and research on the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program, essential health benefits, and the effectiveness of health care programs. She also updated the HHS Strategic Plan and Secretary’s Strategic Initiatives focusing on health care and health reform, and staffed senior government officials by preparing memos, presentations and briefing documents.
