About Susan Boggs

I was lucky to have spent most weekends of my childhood in the beautiful wooded hills of Hocking County, Ohio. I spent hours catching salamanders in the creek and playing on the outcroppings of Blackhand sandstone. This love developed into a 20 yearlong career. After working three years as the naturalist at Sharon Woods for the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks and earning my MBA, I was promoted to lead the District’s education program. As the Manager of Education and Outreach Programs I did strategic planning and project management, organized and led professional development for 25 park educators and directed the implementation of the Students Exploring Ecosystem Dynamics (SEED) program for Central Ohio fifth graders. One highlight was being project manager for exhibit development for a new nature center. Together with a team, we identified storylines, topics and graphics, collected artifacts, and wrote the content for more than 20 exhibits viewed by 60,000 visitors annually. After a successful 20 year career at Metro Parks, I sought jobs that could accommodate my personal life situations. After one year with the Bureau of Criminal Investigations I was promoted to Project Coordinator with the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. At OPOTA I am able to combine the experience I have coordinating large events with my desire to help our law enforcement community. My primary responsibilities include coordinating two annual events for the Attorney General’s Office. One is the Ohio Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony and the other is the Law Enforcement Training Symposium.
