Susan Faraone believes passionately in the power of good people and good planning to create successful fundraising organizations. She provides thoughtful, strategic consulting for higher education and non-profit organizations. She has used her planning expertise, leadership and facilitation skills to brainstorm new ideas, develop measurable goals, create buy-in and foster inspiration among groups small and large, including her own fundraising teams, decentralized university-wide staff groups, alumni and trustee boards and academic leadership. Susan has worked in higher education institutions for much of her 35-year career in a wide variety of roles, leading strategic and campaign planning, front-line fundraising teams, prospect development (research, analytics and prospect management), advancement operations, donor relations and stewardship. She has worked with trustee and alumni board committees and managed her own portfolio of major gift prospects. She has participated in the design, planning and/or execution of three comprehensive fundraising campaigns, ranging in goal from $250 million to $2 billion, and served as campaign director at The University of Chicago and at Illinois Institute of Technology (Fueling Innovation: The Campaign for IIT, scheduled to conclude in 2016). A hallmark of her campaign direction is to bring together prospect research, prospect management and analytics in a coordinated effort with front-line staff and institutional leadership to expand prospect pools and increase the effectiveness of fundraising at all levels.Susan is a member of APRA (Association for Professional Researchers in Advancement) and served on the APRA National Board of Directors from 2009-2012. She has presented on various topics at conferences organized by APRA, AASP (Association of Advancement Services Professionals), CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) and the AMA (American Marketing Association).
