The Oshkosh office of Disaster Services for the American Red Cross exists to aid families facing, and properly preparing for, natural disasters throughout Northeast Wisconsin. I was trained to be a First Responder to Disaster Scenes, learned their computer software and systems to manage client casework, maintained county annexes, helped leverage new partnerships and community resources, and provided general administrative assistance. Highlights of this internship included setting up a variety of "Pillowcase Presentations" in elementary schools throughout NE Wisconsin to teach children how to prepare for natural disasters (most often home fires), did several door-to-door smoke alarm installations in neighborhoods, and participated in the Northeast Wisconsin Day of Fire Preparedness in Green Bay, WI
