My life has been quite an adventure. After having worked in Human Resources in BC’s dynamic Film Industry for 18 years, I took a leap of faith and left my family, my friends, and a job that I loved to pursue a Master of Space Studies in Strasbourg, France. Curiosity motivates me to keep learning because I want to understand how and why. Yet, the more I learn, it seems that there is still so much more to learn! I feel such gratitude for the support that I have received along the way; I have met so many exceptional people who have offered me friendship, kindness, and opportunities that I never would have had otherwise.Through experience, I have found that leadership is about inspiring others, supporting and encouraging the people around you, motivating them to do their best, and helping them to develop themselves so that they can realize their own potential. When people are engaged and inspired, they are committed to striving higher and doing better. Leadership is also about building relationships and engaging people in an environment that is diverse and inclusive; recognizing the unique strengths of each individual can contribute to a team that is stronger and more capable.Balancing a career, classes, family and volunteering with children has taught me the value of hard work, of time management, and of community. It has taught me so many important lessons about myself, about our children, and our responsibility to this world. I now understand how important it is to make meaningful contributions to the world around me and I believe that outreach, education and sharing knowledge with our children is critical because they are the future. In an age where humans are planning to set foot on Mars and make it our home, we must encourage and nurture the dreams of our children so that anything becomes possible.Keep dreaming big dreams!
