After a long career, I hope to return to my passion -- working with or for disadvantaged populations, applying my social work, program management, research, marketing, and client management skills to better the circumstances of these needy populations. I earned a Bachelors of Social Work degree from the University of Oregon in 1978 and post-graduate training at Virginia Commonwealth University. I spent the first 18 years of my professional life honing my social work and non-profit administration skills with a variety of disadvantaged populations, focusing on adolescents (and their families) and battered women (and their children). At James Bell Associates, I researched and evaluated programs that served the populations with whom I had worked so closely -- Medicaid, Food Stamps, Mother and Infant Care, and employment and training for homeless individuals.At The Kamber Group public relations firm, I applied my research skills to promoting programs and developing campaigns serving those same populations, including a youth fitness campaign, promotion of the DoEd's School-to-Work Program, and research on Job Corps.After 18 months staying at home with my children, my brother asked me to work at his Boston-based company, The Kessler Group/Kessler Financial Services. I was the Washington, D.C. relationship/project manager for ULLICO (Union Labor Life Insurance Company). Over the next 8 years, my position expanded to include management of the AFL-CIO's credit card program (the largest affinity card program) with Household/HSBC Bank and the 60+ participating Unions. Whether it was case managing families for the Lane County, Oregon DSS or promoting benefits to union members, my focus remained on effective client management and making a difference in the lives of individuals.Specialties: Relationship management; non-profit fiscal, personnel, program and board management; qualitative and quantitative research; individual and family treatment planning; fund raising; marketing and public relations.
