Since 1967, Lake Forest Open Lands (LFOLA) has permanently preserved, restored, and maintained more than 900 acres of local native landscapes including prairies, savannas, woodlands, wetlands, and ravines. LFOLA is a leader among land trusts and in 2009 became Illinois’ first land trust to be accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, a mark of distinction in land conservation. I am privileged to be working with a stellar team to develop and manage programmatic activities for LFOLA’s community conservation efforts.

Pursued BACT's mission to preserve the community's rare and exceptional open spaces, through engaging in local and regional conservation initiatives and taking steps to implement these programs and initiatives within the organization, as well as throughout the community. Planned, implemented, and monitored easements and land acquisitions. Responsible for monitoring properties, grant writing, financial forecasting, directing land preservation initiatives and stewardship of properties. Created and managed land programs and education (including teen programs and high school summer internship).

Barrington Il

Advanced environmental initiatives through collaboration with local and regional partners including Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Morton Arboretum. Cultivated relationships to meet the needs of businesses in the educational field as well as corporate sector. Grant writing and fostered corporate sponsorships. Public speaking regarding conservation initiatives. Developed partnership with science teachers and administrators to create and provided hands on field experiences complementing their curriculum. Created and facilitated summer internship program for high school students and led students in teen advisory group.

Greater Barrington Area

Collaborated with organizations, school administrators, teachers, and students to provide a comprehensive plan for nature and science education initiatives. Provided classroom or group programming for schools, PTOS, organizations and businesses. Personalized teacher workshops to meet curriculum goals. Developed and published field guides for use in classrooms and on trips. Created hands-on visual aids for use in classrooms. Scheduled, trained and communicated with teachers and volunteers. Organized and facilitated on-site trips for 59 classrooms and over 1,300 students. Created and facilitated hands-on science nights for elementary and middle school age children for over 100+ attendees based on STEM concepts.

Barrington Area Schools

Researched and created presentations geared toward students in K-2 about plants and animals that are indigenous. Trained and coordinated 15 volunteers in local area grade schools to facilitate classroom presentations as well as outdoor trips to the local prairie and rookery.
