I'm passionate about exploring, sharing, and protecting the natural world around us through scientific research, education and outreach, and policy planning. I'm equally at home collecting river samples, conducting lab assessments, presenting data analyses to municipal officials, or leading hiking and paddling adventures. In my lab work, data integrity comes first while I strive to expand the network of citizen scientists that makes possible the science-based decisions our communities make concerning our valuable natural resources. I've increased our volunteer base to over 100, expanded our sampling program to include E. coli testing, and obtained grant funding to create a more robust relational database for our 16 years of water quality data. I am especially proud when I mentor young students in my labs who want to pursue education and work in the field of environmental protection.
