Susan Hargus Mortimer is an "idea person" who has patented two products and has pending applications on 4 new items. In addition to being an inventor and entrepreneur, Susan is a lawyer who made an exciting career move in 2011, joining LexisNexis Business Insight Solutions as a Business Solutions Consultant working with F1000 corporate customers in the Southeast.Susan graduated magna cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law in 1998 and has a B.A. in business administration and finance, graduating with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1987). Susan was a forensic accountant and litigation consultant with Investigative Accounting Group since August 2006. Susan also practiced law for 10 years, practicing domestic law almost exclusively for 5 of those years as well as handling civil litigation matters, including accounting malpractice, officer and director liability and business litigation. She has also written numerous criminal appellate briefs for criminal defendants in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Susan started the litigation support group for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia where she provided trial consulting services on civil and criminal cases for 5 years. Before that, Susan was a bank fraud investigator with the Resolution Trust Corporation/FDIC for 2 years. Before entering federal service and going to law school, Susan served as a forensic accountant and consultant with Ernst and Young for over six years serving the Commercial and Trust Banking, Investment Banking and Securities Industries.
