I am currently responsible for the collection areas of: New Zealand; Māori; History; Language Learning; World Languages; Learning English; Zines; Songbooks; Scores, Classical Music CDs; Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Wellington City Libraries

I select books for the library’s World Language Collection which consists of books written in all languages other than English. Collections are held at the Central Library and at the Johnsonville, Karori, Kilbirnie and Newtown branches. I am in charge of the management of the budget for this collection, which is allocated at the beginning of the financial year.Achievements within the role:• I sourced 3 new vendors to supply quality new material.• I established a relationship with the Chinese Embassy leading to the donation of materials.• I established a relationship with the Korean Embassy leading to the donation of materials.• I established ties with the German Goethe-Institut leading to the donation of materials.• I assisted with the establishment of Wellington City Libraries Chinese Corner.• I assisted with the establishment of Wellington City Libraries Korean Corner.• Joining the LTI Korean Hub book donation programme.• I established an Indian language collection at the Kilbirnie branch library. • I established an eBook collection in Chinese.• I introduced the option to navigate the Overdrive website in Simplified Chinese. • I assisted with the evaluation and selection of titles for the Zinio database, an online magazine reading platform.• I have assisted the wider Collection Development Team with selection in the following areas: History, Performing Arts, Health, Adult Learning, Social Sciences, New Zealand Reference Collection, Maori Reference Collection, Adult Fiction, eBooks. In all areas I kept my budgets on target while providing a variety and balance of literature for the Central Library and the 11 branch libraries.

I have worked as a librarian in the Johnsonville, Khandallah and Tawa branch libraries. I provide excellent customer service every day. Special responsibilities are:• Health & Safety Representative for Tawa and Johnsonville libraries, and for Tawa, Linden, Newlands and Churton Park Community Centres• I update the Johnsonville and Tawa branch library websites using html• I am an Any Questions Operator• I write blogs for the children’s blog• I add photographs of library events to Flickr• I train other staff to use EDRMS and CarlCirc, and in banking• For 3 years I banked Service Centre and library income. I still bank library income.• For 3 years I ran the BookSeekers programme at Tawa for 9 – 12 year olds.

Backyard Theatre (Page & Group) and Kapital Kids Theatre (Group) are professional acting cooperatives run by Rodney Bane. They stage at least three theatre productions for adults, and three shows for children, each year. I publicised the show, Gaslight, for Backyard in September and increased their average audience attendance by 250%.

I publicised the show Don Juan, for the co-operative, A Slightly Isolated Dog, which ran for four weeks in Circa Two.This involved running a social media campaign on facebook and twitter, organising printing and distribution of posters and fliers, writing media releases, organising radio interviews for cast, liaising with media and reviewers, writing blog posts and newsletter entries, publicising the show on relevant websites.
