A seasoned communications professional with experience in the public and private sectors, Susan L. Wampler has focused her work primarily on the philanthropic sector since 1991. At the University of Southern California, she led the communications effort for the $2.85 billion “Building on Excellence” fundraising campaign, then the largest campaign in the history of higher education. During her tenure at USC, she also served as assistant dean for communications, marketing and publications for the university’s libraries and information technology division. She previously led fundraising communications for the Indiana University School of Medicine, the nation’s second-largest medical school, where she oversaw the communications program for a $200 million capital campaign. Before entering nonprofit communications, she was a magazine editor and newspaper reporter in Indianapolis, corporate counsel for the state of Indiana, and chief speechwriter and a legislative assistant for the Indiana House of Representatives. An award-winning journalist, she also has won 18 national and numerous regional awards for her nonprofit publications work.
