Key responsibilities: -build rapport with individuals and coordinate daily care within a safe and nurturing environment including cleanliness, dinner routine, transportation, homework, and mental and physical health-plan and prioritise day-to-day activities and appointments at the beginning of each shift- reviewing team shift notes, identifying individuals requirements and developing a detailed schedule to plan best travel routes and ensure all appointments can be reached on time.-Provide practical and emotional support by teaching coping mechanisms to control anger in a range of situations- identifying and applying appropriate tools to manage challenging behavioural and mental health issues including physical aggression, schizophrenia and general lack of emotional control.- work closely with case managers to evaluate individual progress and develop therapeutic interventions for complex issues including grief and loss, making friends, feelings and keeping safe.-maintain detailed and accurate records of activities and events occurring throughout each shift including family access and medical appointments-recording notes in a web based CTARS (Client Therapeutic Analysis and Reporting System) -Develop and maintain strong working relationships with agencies and stakeholders including case workers, emergency services, law professionals and headspace staff-resulting in improved crisis management and reduction of physical and mental damage stemming from self-harm.-facilitate,lead and contribute to fortnightly residential meetings-providing a forum for individuals to set goals and identify grievances before escalating-manage house budget- prioritising and allocating finds to daily and future household needs-contribute to Family and Community Services publication "Shining a Light on Good Practice in NSW" ("Count to 10",Pg 89)

Bathurst

Part time role teaching children of 6 to 12 years old and Chinese exchange students about aboriginal cultural dances and farm animals as part of a school excursion to the popular Bathurst attraction-liaising closely with teaching staff and delivering sessions which were fun and engaging.

Bathurst

One month community placement helping develop and run recreational sports based programs during school holidays including gymnastics, acrobatics and dancing. Reporting to centre Manager. Took initiative to continue after placement ended to provide fundraising support. Highlights:-worked closely with Youth Liaison Officer (NSW police force)-providing input and feedback relating to existing programs and providing suggestions on improvements -built rapport with young members and learnt to manage challenging situations and behaviour on the spot including dealing with quickly changing circumstances
