A proud member of the Texas Army National Guard and First Sergeant for the 100th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment. I have worked in Public Affairs for more than 20 years and witnessed vast changes, especially in communications and product(s) delivery. For seven years before military service, I was a radio on air talent and marketing/ advertising executive for electronic and print media. In both my civilian and military careers, I have developed solid marketing and messaging campaigns to increase internal and external audiences’ awareness. I have worked with Public Affairs professionals in local and international media in and out of combat, through natural disasters, and ongoing stabilizing/security missions. I received a Meritorious Service Medal for a hard cover book produced highlighting US and the Jordanian Army's proof of concept training exercise while remaining mission capable protecting their borders. King Abdullah II of Jordan recognized the book. I excel in finding creative ways of reaching target audiences whether through social media or non-conventional means. I am passionate about messaging and being proactive on social media platforms. I increase team cohesion and improve employee loyalty through strategic recognition and capitalizing on individual talent management. I offer a unique advantage in that I have a working knowledge of every level of Public Affairs; creative processes in all mediums, developing communication strategies, taking/giving interviews and meeting with media representatives. Currently I manage 25 Soldiers spread across the country on four different missions. I have advised a MACOM on optimizing their exposure fthrough placement of digital media and social platforms.
