In 2016, I assumed the role of Support Services Manager, in addition to my role of Food Services Manager. The combined role added leadership of 24-hour front desk operations, security services for two locations, equipment/supply procurement and maintenance. I continue to hire, train and lead the Food Services Team of employees and volunteers to prepare approximately ten thousand meals each month to youth from the Downtown Eastside community.Active member of Covenant House Leadership Caucus, Social Enterprise Working Group, Life Skills Program and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.- Oversee food preparation using whole ingredients, and meeting a range of dietary requirements. - Consistently at or under budget - High retention: majority of direct reports are 10+ years- Pursue and maintain Innovative Partnership programs, leading to major and consistent donations of food, supplies and volunteer hours for Covenant House. Relationships developed with UBC, Telus, and private corporations including organic food producers, farming programs and 5-star catering companies.- Responsible to attain/adhere to city permits and bylaws, for example, created programs to address changes to food waste disposal bylaws- Established excellent network of relationships with food brokers and suppliers; past and present Covenant House Board and leadership; colleagues across all levels of our organization; and our valuable volunteers from the community and peer groups.- Developed and implemented life skills program for youth, to meet Covenant House objective to teach healthy nutrition, food literacy and confidence in independence.

Prepared meals for residents and clients in healthcare settings, ranging from detox treatment centres and adult day care programs: Second Spring Adult Daycare, William Rudd House, and Maple Cottage Detox. Strong relationships with diverse clientele established and maintained over long-term, with understanding and compassion for people in marginalized communities.- Ordering, stock and receiving of food and related supplies- Menu planning with residents and/or follow rotation menu- Cooking and preparation of meals, with adherence to portion control- Monitor specialized diets and eating plans- Routine sanitation of food preparation areas

The Steveston Residence supports adults who are too young for a traditional care facility, but require 24-hour assistance. As Head Cook (part-time), I planned and prepared nutritious and tasty meals for residents, including specialized diets. - Menu planning, in accordance with Canada Food Guide and specifications made by facility Dietitian for each resident- Budgeting for food costs on a per resident meal allowance, with overall bottom-line responsibility for cost control of food-related purchases- Cook and prepare meals five evenings/week- Monitor specialized diets and eating plans, with careful attention to prescribed textures (e.g. minced and puree diets)
