Education is my passion! It is the thread that weaves my career together. I've served in education for almost 20 years in a wide variety of roles and capacities. Beginning in 1995, I served for nine years on the board and as a teacher in two unique homeschooling collaboratives. Between 1998 and 2006, I worked in the public school systems first as a teaching assistant and then as a teacher. It was during this time that I completed my teaching credentials and teacher certification. In 2006, I moved into higher education after accepting a position with the University of Wisconsin system where I served as a Program Associate in Nonprofit and Human Resource Management. I was also the coordinator for Northwoods Nonprofits, an educational initiative that worked with area nonprofits in board training and capacity-building and I provided administrative support for Leadership Superior-Douglas County.In 2008, I was offered a position as a Program Administrator and Student Advocate for the Master of Advocacy and Political Leadership (MAPL) program at the University of Minnesota. MAPL is an applied degree program that trains emerging leaders in the advocacy community. In 2008, I accepted a position as the Executive Assistant to the Dean in the School of Education at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Over the course of the last five years, I was promoted to the Director of Human Resources and Strategic Planning. I currently supervise the HR and Finance team in the School of Education and oversee an annual budget of around $12m. I see education as the single most important investment we can make and I am committed to making positive contributions to education!
