Sarah Valverde is a mission-driven leader with over ten years of experience in education. She has worked in traditional public schools and charter schools, and has led in elementary schools that are dual language or English-only. Sarah enjoys coaching, leading teams, and supporting and enabling others to meet goals. Sarah launched her career in education with DC Public Schools as a DC Teaching Fellow with The New Teacher Project. While in DC, she worked as a self-contained bilingual 5th grade teacher, providing instruction in Spanish as part of the dual language program. She continued to serve scholars in Title 1 and urban communities as a Bilingual 5th Grade ELA teacher, a Math Teacher Specialist and then as an Assistant School Leader and a Dean of Curriculum and Instruction. Sarah received her B.A. in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University and graduated with her M.Ed in Supervision and Administration from The University of Houston in August 2016. Outside of school, Sarah is a true foodie. When she is not cooking, she can be found scouting new eateries with her husband and reviewing her adventures on Yelp. She is a proud Yelp Elite member. She also enjoys yoga and reading.
