From an early age, Sebastião was drawn to understanding the fundamental building blocks of life and their interconnectedness with the world around us. This passion led him to pursue research in tissue engineering during his MSc and PhD.However, searching for knowledge by itself felt unfulfilling, an impact beyond scientific publications was missing. Simultaneously, the gap between scientific advancements and their practical applications in medicine became increasingly apparent. While academic research held valuable answers, the translation of these findings into real-world solutions was frustratingly slow.The turning point came with the development of Bac3Gel technology. Recognizing its potential, Sebastião saw an opportunity to make a significant impact in human lives by exploring the field of microbiome science and developing innovative medical treatments and wellness solutions.This vision gave birth to the Bac3Gel startup — a venture committed to transformative research with the aim of improving human well-being.
