I am a passionate and innovative teacher candidate pursuing a certificate of qualification through Trinity Western University. My teachable subjects are Social Studies and English, and I am excited by the opportunities that these subjects provide to explore real-world application through literature, current events, and project-based learning.Currently completing my practicum at Langley Fundamental Middle and Secondary School in grade 8 and 12 Humanities classes, I am committed to intentionally supporting students to seize opportunities to make a lasting impact in the world.I will be graduating in May of 2024 with my British Columbia Certificate of Qualification, and am excited for the opportunity to step into my career as a teacher. My teaching experience includes initial classroom experiences in grade 10 Social Studies and English classes at Pacific Academy and Surrey Christian, grade 12 BC First Peoples English at WJ Mouat Secondary School, as well as focussed literacy development with grade 3 students at Nicomekl Elementary School. I have also been a certified lifeguard and swimming instructor since 2017 and have extensive experience teaching swimming lessons to students of all ages, including adults. In addition to aquatics, I have a diverse skillset including photography, videography, sports journalism, outdoor recreation, music and dance experience.My work with the Trinity Rangers, a group seeking to foster community for young adults with intellectual disabilities, is one of my proudest endeavours. My husband and I founded this organization in partnership with YoungLife Capernaum in 2021, and we have enjoyed the relationships we have built and the experience that we have gained through running this organization.
