Southington Water Department, Southington, CT.The Water Department consists of:- 26 full-time employees, - (7) Seven wells, - (3) Three pump station, - 3 MGD surface water filtration plant, - (3) Three reservoirs, - (6) Six water storage tanks, - 13,750 service connections, - 200 miles of water distribution mains, and - 1,400 acres of watershed land; * Responsible for the overall management of the water department. * The Superintendent reports to a six member elected Board of Water Commissioners. * Duties include overseeing all administrative and technical activities of the Department, such as, water treatment and distribution, personnel management, union contract negotiations, press/public relations, security, safety/OSHA regulatory compliance, project management, buildings/grounds maintenance, and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations; * Direct oversight, development of and the implementation $7.4 million dollar annual operating/maintenance budget, and over 5.0 million dollars per year in capital improvements. *Responsible for the development, implementation and management of a new long term $20,000,000 capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and operational improvements derived from a system wide energy evaluation program. Oversee investments, secure Bonding and low interest loans for CIP. *Responsible for coordination of Department activities with all other Town departments’. * Member of the Town’s Public Works Committee
