Rose Hack is UCR's first women-centric hackathon, hosted by Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and Women in Computing (WinC). An ode to Rosemary Bourns, co-founder of the Bourns College of Engineering, Rose Hack's mission is to empower women and underrepresented groups in engineering. RoseHack is usually hosted during Winter Quarter.

This past year we hosted our first outreach event, Engineering R’Future, dedicated to teaching STEM to high school girls. We had over 80 high school girls from the community learn about the different branches of engineering and 30 volunteers. We are excited to have this event this year and invite more high school girls to learn about engineering.Outreach has grown tremendously in the past two years and our relationships within the community have opened up more opportunities to spread also participated in many other outreach events in the Inland Empire and connected more with the community with STEM. This year we plan to host our second Engineering R’ Future in hopes to promote STEM to high school girls by interacting with students and professors. We hope to keep increasing our outreach and inspire the next wave of engineers.

Team Tech is a group project composed of engineering students that emphasizes teamwork and connections with a company sponsored project. The students develop hands-on technical skills as they design and develop the company’s sponsored project. Once the project has been completed Team Tech will compete at the SWE National Conference, which is hosted in October. This year will be our second time ever competing. We consist of a multitude of different majors within the Bourns College of Engineering, making us perfect to take on any engineering problem that comes our way. Not only does Team Tech focus on completing the company’s project but they also host introductory technical classes such as SolidWorks and Arduino to help other undergraduate students learn the basic techniques. By sponsoring our team, you will collaborate with students that are engaged in these technical projects and workshops.

Research Networking Night (RNN) is an event held by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). The purpose of this event is to bring faculty, professors, graduate students and undergraduate students from sciences and engineering together. Our goal is for motivated undergraduates to make connections, conceptualize the expectations of the research field and to discover possible research positions for the future.

Evening with Industry (EWI) is a large scale annual networking event in which engineering students of every discipline are invited to a professional and intimate banquet with company representatives. Students enjoy a sit-down catered dinner with representatives from top-tier companies for an evening full of networking and meaningful conversation, while being accompanied by intermittent inspiring and informative keynote speakers throughout the night. For the past two years, EWI has been held virtually due to the ongoing pandemic. An average of 10 companies across various engineering disciplines come every year. In Fall 2021, the 10th Annual Evening with Industry hosted companies such as Robinhood, Lululemon, and Campos EPC.Evening with Industry is one of the highlight events of SWE at UCR, ideal for students soon graduating and beginning the job hunt, those currently looking for internships, or students merely seeking to expand their network.

Bourns Science and Engineering Day (BSED) is an annual event that takes place in the spring. We teach kids from grades kindergarten to 8th grade what engineering is. The day event consists if engaging events, keynote speakers, robotic teams, and external booths.BSED has been held online for the past 2 years due to the ongoing pandemic. This year's theme is Engineering Behind Film.​We invite all of UCR including the faculty and staff, the local community, and Girl Scouts to participate in this wonderful opportunity. Girl Scouts are eligible to earn an event patch at the end of the day's activities.

BioHack is SWE's very first student-run 12 hour bioengineering-themed hackathon at UCR. Throughout this event, UCR students across different majors will form teams to work on projects, attend technical workshops, speak to mentors, learn about new technologies, and network with industries. We promote bioengineering related projects as the central aspect of the event. Our mission is to foster connections among students and sponsors throughout computer science and bioengineering. We encourage non-computer science or engineering students, especially women and minorities, to develop valuable technical and teamwork skills in a safe and encouraging environment. BioHack will spawn connections with engineers throughout the bioengineering community across the Inland Empire in California. With your sponsorship, you would help BioHack grow into an event that benefits students, faculty, and companies alike.
