My career has been dedicated to developing curriculum and instructional design, and leading programs in international corporate Learning and Development, higher education, and the creative and media arts. I keep a focus on UX, DEI, universal design, storytelling, and the ideal that everyone should have access to the same opportunities and resources. I co-founded and co-led an international creative production house for ten years (including strategy, budgets, and personnel management/development). This work was focused on bringing audiences and professional content creators with and without disabilities together to explore new forms of media and performance. I have years of experience focusing on audiences and crafting narrative, visual, and multi-modal shared experiences (UX). All of this complex and creative work serves me well in my corporate roles. As one example, this creative work has given me years of extensive experience coaching, leading, and managing people, multiple stakeholders, and cross-functional project/program teams with tight resources and deadlines. Most of my corporate work has been in Learning and Development, which builds on my experience as a creative content producer, storyteller, program/project developer, and educator. In addition to my work leading instructional & curriculum design, classroom and VILT facilitation, and developing asynchronous content, I have recently started exploring AI, VR, and AR applications in L&D, with specialized considerations of disability, neurodiversity, and accessibility. My work has a particular focus on human-centered and universal design principles. I have lived and worked around the world. I have a keen interest in making sure any project, team, or content I work with best serves global audiences and needs. I have EU and US citizenship and work in both English and Spanish. I consider the cultural and company specifics of each audience and situation when developing customized strategies, scalable solutions, and practical paths forward through creative collaboration. General keywords for my professional experience and skills include curriculum development and management, andragogy, training and professional development, strategy, program development, project management, UX and UI R&D, DFP applications (human-centered design), creative producing, collaborative creation, needs analysis, research, interviewing, leadership, leadership culture, organizational development, facilitation and presentation, coaching, DEI, accessibility, disability and integration, and herding cats.

Phd Student, ResearcherThe University Of British Columbia 2018 - 2021VancouverMy research focused on how people with low and no vision perceive characteristically visually mediated and live events, and how to design these events with integral accessibility.Applications to corporate work include analysis and applications of leadership and influence, qualitative and quantitative research methods, audience and disability studies, universal design and designing for people (DFP) principles, design thinking, storytelling, and UX and UI analysis and design. My study focused on quantitative and qualitative methods of studying leaders in their fields, user/audience experience, and current developments in content creation that consider 'disability' as an integral aspect of design. The goal and guiding ethos of this work were to publicize practical applications and scalable solutions to open characteristically visual and 'inaccessible' content to the broadest possible audience/user base. Towards the end of my study, I was engaged in conversations with doctoral students of Dr. Cristina Conti to better understand lessons for and applications of my research within AI/ML, Human-Computer Interaction, and computer vision. I withdrew from this university after finishing my coursework and exams, but before completing the degree. -
Content ProducerApple University 2016 - 2018CupertinoMy primary focus was to research and produce assets exploring how leadership and culture develop and evolve around high-performing individuals and teams at Apple. Work included interviewing and collaborating with international leaders and teams to author and develop Success Profiles based on these conversations and complementary analyses. This role involved constant collaboration and movement between different types of content while working with global business groups and partners, including senior leaders. Skills: corporate ethnography, including primary interviewing and reporting, and presenting and working with senior leaders.I managed assets and initiatives around Apple's in-house competency framework. My first and largest project in this area was to review, edit, and produce short video content on what was needed to succeed at the company. Some of the assets I developed and managed were integral to a bespoke iOS app. The interview and success guides I authored and developed gave practical insights into the core values of teams, the company, and individuals. Skills: Creation, development, and management of assets, corporate ethnography, including video editing and review, and presentation through tools and portals. My last major project was working with high-performing individuals in various international locations to collaboratively train and support them in presenting Apple University content for their local teams. Skills: train-the-trainer, facilitator development, and support.Additionally, I facilitated new employee orientation (NEO) in Cupertino, frequently every week. Over the course of two years, I helped present NEO to hundreds of new corporate employees and interns. Skills: facilitation and new employee onboarding. -
Director, Producer, And DramaturgFreelance 1990 - 2016Usa & EuropeThe corporate translation of this work is: Director of Program and Project Management, people and team manager, Chief Creative Officer, Director of Research and Development, communications expert and storyteller, innovative product development and delivery. Director of Operations, producing product lines with minimal resources to diverse, international consumers, relentless reinvention, and product cycles. Creative management and facilitation of extended and deep collaboration with highly diverse groups, individuals, needs, and agendas. Complex project management, leading and influencing many (large) personalities, aligning perspectives and input, and driving initiatives to successful completion on tight and unforgiving deadlines. Why is this work relevant in a corporate setting?I have a very different perspective and approach to critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategy than those with more 'traditional' business backgrounds. I will productively diversify the thinking, perspective, and creativity in your organization. I thrived in this work through inventiveness, improvisation, and getting things done with little to no resources, precedent, map, or safety net. This work made me a Swiss army knife and a creative, collaborative (or independent) problem solver. For those more familiar with this work, I usually describe it as:• Commissioned, developed, produced, and directed productions of original and published work at theaters and non-traditional venues including transmedia spaces. • The range of work included fully produced plays, video shorts and features, workshops, staged readings, radio drama, opera, musical theater, devising, physical and dance theater, solo performance, cyberformance, podcasts, educational, and youth theater. • Dramaturg work included commissioning new work and collaborating closely with emerging and established writers to develop their stories across genres and formats.

Practice-Based Researcher (Ux, Ui)The Royal Central School Of Speech And Drama Jan 2010 - Dec 2012London, England, United KingdomDesigned, led, and documented a three-year research and production project titled "Blind Spectatorship." This practice-based investigation focused on how characteristically visual content can be creatively developed and accessed for users with low, no, and full vision. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were employed under the framework of mixed methods Grounded Theory. Evolving conceptions of user accessibility resulted in a series of experiments that successively built on previous iterations; there were seven component projects completed in this series across the three years. Key aspects of these projects included immersive sound design, haptics, tactile design, multi-modal storytelling, designing for people (DFP) principals, human-media interactions, audience studies, and radical consideration of the range of visual acuities. Through this project, applied and customized UX and UI models were developed with broad applications in media, performance, VR, AR, and other characteristically visual forms. At the time, this work was pioneering in its consideration of simultaneous access for low, no, and full-vision users as a fundamental consideration of the design process. This research was based on earlier experiments with Compañía Y in Spain. The move to the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama was motivated by the need for access to the institution's resources, including subject matter experts and other specialist personnel, laboratory and public production spaces, and a research library. My work on this project was fully funded for three years by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council. -
