Dr. Sybil Thomas, Professor from the Department of Education, University of Mumbai hasbeen in the field of teacher education for over 22 years with a short stint of administrativeexperience as Principal of the St. Xavier's Institute of Education.I began my career in Higher Education by working with the Department of Adult andContinuing Education and Extension, University of Mumbai. Then she worked with KJSomaiya College of Education Training and Research for 9 years and then Joined theDepartment of Education University of Mumbai in 2009.I have a B.Sc Degree in Zoology and then a Master’s Degree in Englishliterature and also a Bachelor's and Masters and Ph.D Degree in Education. Her Topic for herPh.D was A Study of Attitudes of Students Towards Educated and Working  Women inRelation to Some Variables.18 students have completed their Ph.d under my guidance and She teaches courses at theM.Ed and M.Phil level at the Department of Education.I serve as a member of various academic bodies in the University of Mumbai and otherUniversities and colleges.Recent research Project that she has completed is   Understanding the Concept of Teaching and Learning in Teacher Education Institutions inMumbai as a co-investigator with a faculty from TISS  funded by the Azim PremjiFoundation University. Using mixed method as an approach to research, she would like to seehow teachers and students alike take part in the process of knowledge generation for theservice and transformation of society.
