After graduating from The Ohio State University, I recently moved to Denver, Colorado, and had the incredible experience of working as a Field Organizer on the Harris-Walz campaign! This role challenged me in many ways, pushing me to become a better writer, communicator, advocate, and person. Most importantly, it reinforced my love for community engagement and deepened my commitment to working toward meaningful change. In just a few weeks, I spoke to thousands of potential volunteers and hundreds of voters, knocking on almost 1,000 doors across Colorado and Arizona and making over 5,000 volunteer recruitment calls. In reflecting on my educational background and professional experience, I am so grateful to have had the opportunities and mentors that have shaped me into who I am today. Studying public health and the nonprofit industry broadened my understanding of the public sector and strengthened my research, data analytics, and writing skills. Classes like Crisis Communications, Entrepreneurship, and Social Change Advocacy allowed me to engage in real-world applications that laid the foundation for professional skills. Working in the retail and service industries has made me a more resilient, communicative, and collaborative worker. Working on the campaign and interning at Kimball Stroud & Associates presented new challenges that engaged my analytical and creative abilities. Both experiences reinvigorated my love of collaboration, mentorship, and a team-based work environment. My diverse work experiences have honed my skills in communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and customer service. I’m committed to continuous learning and am eager to apply these strengths in my next professional chapter.
