Perform legal research in Westlaw and LexisNexis on government oversight of drilling, management, and reclamation of offshore and inland oil, gas, fracking, and mineral extraction.Analyze state and federal case law, statutes, regulations, and practices and draft legal advice recommendations to Department attorneys.Evaluate and prepare records requests for discovery, third-party subpoenas, and the public to meet statutory obligations and Legal Office standards.Manage response to requestors regarding their discovery, subpoena, or public information requests, including representatives of multi-national corporations, journalists, private individuals, and others.Train, provide consultation, and serve as in-house expert on document review software Relativity to the Department’s general counsel, attorneys, and analysts.Audited, updated, and streamlined the Department’s Public Records Act policies and processes.Provide legal support to the Department by performing paralegal duties in administrative proceedings, provision of advice and counsel, and other legal matters.

Create internal procedures for Government Law Section review of programs' proposed regulations. Draft and review regulations in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act. Assist Deputy Attorneys General with appellate litigation.

Coordinate disputes involving clients, consumers, and automotive manufacturers in the pre- and early litigation stages: managing deadlines, leveraging statutory and contractual requirements, and strategically managing clients, opposing counsel, and plaintiffs. Perform legal research and draft pleadings and discovery in a variety of practice areas, including employment, business tort, personal injury, product liability, and regulatory compliance. Recommend legal arguments to attorneys. Supervise large document review and discovery projects. Supervise court and corporate filings and service of process throughout the US. Negotiate legal services contracts on behalf of the firm.
