During the 2022-2023 Model Arab League (MAL) season, the team had the distinct privilege of representing the Sultanate of Oman at regional and national conferences throughout the year. The Miami University MAL team achieved noteworthy success at the Ohio Valley Regional Model Arab League Conference, securing multiple prestigious awards. Sydney was honored to receive the Distinguished Chair Award in recognition of her exceptional contributions. The team's unwavering commitment and tireless efforts over a span of eight months were unmistakably evident, culminating in the esteemed opportunity to participate in the National University Model Arab League Conference (NUMAL) held in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C.

Represent the country of Somalia in a debate simulation based on the League of Arab States. Preparation for the conference included refining research skills, position papers, draft resolutions, and council sessions cultivated confidence in public speaking, problem-solving, negotiation, and diplomacy. Familiar with adaptation to new perspectives and develop an appreciation of foreign viewpoints by placing oneself into the shoes of an Arab diplomat. Preparation led to the award of Outstanding Delegates on the Special Council on Poverty and Unemployment as Jordan at the 2022 Ohio Valley Model Arab League & and the National Council on US-Arab Relations.

Sydney’s commitment to excellence in communications helps to ensure that DNAP's message reaches a broader audience and inspires environmental stewardship.Throughout the internship, she embraced a proactive and adaptable approach, readily taking on additional duties as assigned.
