Just as with my Code Louisville experience (I started BEFORE it became a big deal!), I've always been the dabbler in various new tech things. After all, when IBM came out with their first Personal Computer, my dad brought one home from work and I started learning on my own during those days of DOS, BASICA, and Adventure ("A hollow voice says, 'Plugh'​."​). This continued on, through the era of multiple PalmPilots, and led to my being the unofficial (or semi-official) tech support, advisor, and go-to at my various professional positions.Along with my fascination with all things tech, I also bring an incredible passion for youth (particularly high school) and education (especially high school). I believe that it's important for the kids to feel empowered and to have a voice -- even just being heard can make such a difference to them. I feel that getting girls involved in STEM is extremely important, just as it is important for the boys to see the girls taking leadership in those activities. And, above all, I am a fierce advocate for teaching peacemaking on the smallest most localized scale --- the mantra for my classroom, campers, and colleagues is a consistent "Play Nice!!!"
