As Advocacy Co-Director, I am responsible for:- overseeing STOPAIDS' global-level advocacy, policy and campaigns work, including supporting the team to develop, deliver and monitor advocacy strategies on a range of issues- overseeing the Digital Health and Rights Project's global advocacy strategy and work and leading STOPAIDS work with its Steering Committee. (Twitter: @DigHealthRights) - directly line managing two staff members and project managing bigger teams, fundraising and supporting a range of management functions (such as HR, team support and planning, finance, etc).I also support the Global Fund as a member of the Developed Country NGO Board Delegation.From June 2020 - June 2022 I was also a part-time Adviser to the Leadership of the Strategy Committee (SCL), a Board committee of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GF) responsible for oversight of the GF's strategic direction and the performance and impact of its investments. I was responsible for advising SCL decision-making on effective governance processes for the development of policies and oversight of relevant bodies, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, coordinating SCL activities as well as as preparing briefs, talking points and other support as necessary.

I led advocacy efforts on issues related to improving access to medicines and innovation, as part of the global inequality campaign. This included coordinating efforts amongst civil society globally to influence key events and stakeholders, including the UN, developing and delivering Oxfam’s global advocacy strategy on access to medicines and innovation and providing technical support to national offices and campaigns, especially those in the 'global south'.

I led on STOPAIDS' access to medicines work, which included managing the ‘Missing Medicines’ campaign coalition and influence the UK government’s approach to the global HIV response and access to medicines. I organised and spoke at UK parliamentary and public events, developed policy briefings and managed the delivery of research report 'Pills and Profits; how drug companies make a killing out of public research'. I also managed STOPAIDS’ parliamentary strategy, relationships with 60+ UK and EU civil and parliamentary decision-makers and was responsible for dotted line management of 1 staff member.

I coordinated Youth Stop AIDS, a youth-led UK movement that campaigns for a stronger response to the global HIV pandemic. I supported and created opportunities for young people (18-30 years) to be effective leaders and push for change in innovative and powerful ways, from creative street action to lobbying decision-makers in UK Parliament.I took overall responsibility for the network and campaign activities, which included developing 2 public facing campaigns, managing the activity budget of 40,000 GBP, coordinating media and communications, M&E, organising events and providing close support to our volunteers. I also maintained the relationship with the key donor and partner for this work.Previous to this role, I worked in Restless Development's Global Policy and Practice Team and was responsible for planning, logistical and administrative support for high-level workshops and events and led on the team's online internal and external communications. I also took a lead in documenting and reporting on the team's activities, and contributed to the team's strategic planning and design.

Lusaka, Zambia

I trained 140 student teachers in sexual and reproductive health, 48 individuals in leadership skills and 29 student teachers in entrepreneurship.I worked with local groups to organize a successful HIV/AIDS awareness raising event for 150 pupils and took the initiative to also hold a special lecture for around 100 students at another local institution. I was also responsible for managing the Youth Resource Centre and monitoring and evaluation.I developed strong facilitation and communication as a result of conducting lessons, workshops and events. I gained a deeper understanding of international development issues, including the strength of youth-led development, sexual and reproductive health, livelihoods and the role of NGOs in development.

Udaipur Area, India

I developed a proposal for a five-year project that aimed to improve livelihoods in southern Rajasthan. I was responsible for liaising with the organisation’s two major national and international partners, conducting interviews and gathering practical and financial information.I mentored five short-term interns, coordinating their work and providing personal support. I also conducted research and analysis to produce a report on land rights and mining in two rural districts and helped to run capacity-building workshops. I quickly adapted to working abroad, as well as cross- culturally, and met immovable deadlines.

I was granted the Raleigh Graduate Bursary Award because of my dedication to international development. I volunteered in a rural community in order to improve sanitation and support wildlife conservation. I gained project management and evaluation skills, built successful working relationships across cultures and now have an understanding of ethical and valuable development practice.
