I have come through a lot of things before arriving at this point in my journey. I have a tumultuous and checkered past. In my life I have done many things I am proud of. I have also made mistakes. Everyone has, that's a part of growing up. Some people make minor mistakes with no real harm done, and then some people ( like myself ) make more serious mistakes that have lasting repercussions. I made a bad decision many years ago that resulted in my being involved in something that got me arrested. I ultimately ended up sentenced to do time in prison, which I served. I firmly believe in the importance of taking responsibility for your actions. I have worked very hard to make amends and do everything I can to prove my character. I truly regret that fateful day, but I chose to learn from my mistake and grow as a person. I wouldn't be the person that I am right now if that had never happened, and I wouldn't have this perspective. I want to devote the rest of my life to helping people and especially animals. That background was to give context to what I am passionate about, which is the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs labeled as "pit-bulls", that includes any "pitt-mixes" as well. In my town, this breed and any mixed breed they decide is a pitt-mix, is banned by city ordinance. This doesn't keep them out of the city, only makes it harder to get proper medical care or assistance for them. The result of this is an animal shelter that is literally always full of these babies in a city where no resident is allowed to adopt them. They usually end up euthanized. My mission is to open a Pitbull Rescue and Rehabilitation Center where these sweet, misunderstood, and too often mistreated, babies can have a chance at a good life. I am in school getting my Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science so that I can gain the knowledge I need to be able to help them. I genuinely believe that with patience, love, care, and training these wonderful creatures can heal and be ready to be with the family that is right for them. After all, they deserve happiness just like everyone else. And I know from personal experience that they are complex and incredible beings. It is my goal to open this center and also to be able to make it a second chance for the dogs, but also people as well. I want to be able to have the knowledge to also teach and employ some of the people in my community that may be disadvantaged in the area of employment. I want to offer job training and employment to some of these people in my center.
