Provide transitioning service members & veterans information about program services job requirements, occupational opportunities, training programs, & rehabilitation facilities. Furnish employment services to special applicant groups such as disabled veterans & recently separated veterans. Explain eligibility requirements & assist in the completion of application for appropriate program assistance. Perform detailed intake & assessment interviews to determine veterans' education, interests, work history, economic & family status, career goals & training needs. Conduct job seeking skills workshops & Transition Assistance Program presentation before large & small audiences. Help veterans with barriers to employment & job choice & adjustment problems to identify factors influencing these problems. Select & administer appropriate assessments & tests that measure educational level, basic skill needs, interests, or ability & aptitude to acquire job skills & knowledge. Interpret results of tests using standardized methodology. Use a case management approach in counseling job seekers by relating test results to possible occupational goals & attaining their employment goals. Assist veterans in evaluating & analyzing their employment assets & help them develop a realistic employability plan. Contact educational, rehabilitation & social agencies to coordinate services & provide supportive assistance for job seekers. Prepare & maintain a case management file on each counseled veteran & follow up to determine whether satisfactory progress has been made toward job adjustment. Determine if satisfactory progress is made towards skills/goals acquisition & enter information into Kansas Job Link in accordance with federal & state policies, procedures, regulations, & guidelines. Ensure case management records contain information necessary to show effective utilization of program resources & performance accountability.

Provided career counseling to over 900 Soldiers. Conducted retention interviews. Determined Soldiers’ eligibility to immediately reenlist or extend their enlistment, to include options and bonuses; prepared and reviewed reenlistment and extension documents for accuracy; coordinated retention ceremonies. Advised commanders on criteria for selection of unit level retention NCOs. Advised Soldiers on all aspects that could impact their decision for continued service, to include the Declination of Continued Service Statement. Evaluated and trained unit level retention NCOs. Briefed leaders, Soldiers, and families on matters relating to retention and reclassification actions. Maintained liaison with local personnel, agencies and finance offices. Managed retention mission, statistics, incentives and awards program.
